Day 9 - Robes

I had perfectly organized my robes in clear vinyl bags... my winter robe, my summer robe... WAIT!!! Why do I have a robe for every season?!? In my mind, I could hear Greg Behrendt's stand-up comedy routine about not knowing when to wear his robe. Definitely watch the clip for a good laugh, but I will warn you that he does use some expletives (so don't watch if you are easily offended). Robe Skit

I decided to hang on to one robe since I live with other people. It is a nice organic cotton one that I got for free at a spa. Goodbye winter and summer robes, I don't know why I needed you!

  1. I saw the link for your blog on 365 Less Things. I have read through your blog and have left comments intermittently. Your blog is great! Keep up the good work. You can expect regular comments from me. We are, pretty much, on the same journey.

  3. I must confess I have two robes but only every wear one of them because it is te most comfortable. I really probably still only have the other one because it was a gift from my husband. It is less comfy because it weighs a tonne. Maybe it is time to say goodbye to that one, I hope my hubby won't mind.

  4. I also came over from 365lessthings. Seems like we should have a party or something. How about if we all wear our favorite robe and have a sleepover?! I love those! LOL
Seriously, though, I have two robes: a very heavy long terry cloth one for winter and a short-sleeve short one for summer. I don't think it would be wise to spend money on a mid-weight one just to get rid of what I already own. Besides I love to cuddle up on the couch in my heavy one with a cup of tea on a cold night.

  5. "WHAT?!?! Why do I need a robe for every season?" completely cracked me up!

I recently just walked through my house and found 10 more things I could easily give away... it's amazing how this is such an iterative process.

On the first round through my closet, I got rid of two huge garbage bags of clothes. I loved the feeling of freedom it afforded me. A few months later, I can now see at least half a bag more of things that I really don't need. And I think it's the same for all the other areas of the house -- you have to keep going through it again and again.

As for me, I'm just uncluttering, very slowly.

  6. Thanks for all the great comments!

I am glad to hear that I wasn't the only one with multiple robes! It can get pretty cold during the winter where I am at, but that is one of the rare times I can wear sweatpants around the house without the guilt of dressing sloppy!

  7. I've never worn a robe. I sleep in my clothes. Then I change into new clothes. I don't get the whole thing about robes. Ah, now I watched as much as I could tolerate of that dude's YouTube video, and apparently we share our opinion of robes. I'm a female, by the way.
